I adopted Helton when she was roughly 8 weeks old in 2015. It was love at first sight and she has been my little snuggle bug and bundle of energy ever since. Still, it wasn’t until she reached the 1 year mark that we started seeing serious signs of separation anxiety and aggression. Helton would yelp and cry when I left home to the point that I could not leave her alone without fearing overwhelming complaints from my neighbors. Taking her out and around other people or dogs, however, proved to be an even larger stressor for both of us. Everything that moved would instigate a fit of aggressive and concerning barks and growls. Both situations proved to be completely draining, and I was at a loss for what to do when I first found Kari.
To say that the tools that Kari taught me and Helton helped astronomically is an absolute understatement. With scientific information and techniques to help her feel less stressed and afraid, Helton has made dramatic steps forward. Her separation anxiety has almost vanished and her aggression towards other dogs has substantially decreased. We still have a long way to go and continue to work on a daily basis to keep a consistent momentum, but the progress could not have been possible without the help of Kari. I am so grateful for all of her guidance and support, as it is the reason that my little lady is still with me today. And of course, Helton knows her very well as “the treat lady”, so needless to say, she is a fan.
Thank you so much, Kari!
