Find out how you can give Chance his “second chance” at having a forever family.

Lucy is a five-year old Australian Cattle Dog who is mellow and happy go Lucky. She loves people and is great with kids. She is in foster care but

It's summer time and for many of us that means an increase in time spent at one of the many off-leash dog parks in Colorado, and many of you have expressed concern about other dogs there who are aggressive and what you should do if you and/or your dogs are approached. As a result Laura, one of my colleagues and I will be hosting our first free monthly seminar on July 19 regarding dog park etiquette and how to handle encounters with unsocialized dogs (see Upcoming Events below for more details).

I also wanted to let you know this month I am introducing a referral program where you can win a fabulous grand prize and your friends can receive discounts for classes. Read for more details.

Thanks for your support and have a wonderful month!

Tips & Tricks

How to Teach Your Dog Front Door Manners: Ever been to a friend's house and had their dog leave you with cuts and bruises from jumping on you as soon as you step through the front door? Worse yet, has your dog been the one to do this? Learn how to teach your dog not to jump on house guests.

Teaching Your Dog to ‘Come!’: The ‘come’ command is arguably the only command that can save your dog’s life but dog owners must teach this command to their pets since it is not an innate behavior. Check out the following tips on teaching the ‘come’ command.

Nutrition

Fillers to Avoid in Dog Food: Last month we discussed how to select a dog food for your pet. When choosing a food there are several fillers you should be aware of. Read more for what fillers are, how they impact your pets diet, and how to identify them in the list of ingredients.

Introducing the Customer Referral Contest!

I receive multiple referrals every month and want to thank you all for your recommendations and support. This month I am holding a contest for e-newsletter subscribers who send this e-newsletter to a friend (link to send to a friend) who may need to enroll their dog into a training class.

Each friend you send this to (link to send to a friend) will receive a $25 discount on the class they enroll in and you will be entered to win a unique custom 16X20 watercolor portrait of 2 pets created by the talented Jennifer Mosquera of Ion Design. Read more about Jennifer.

Ask Kari

“Julian now gets aggressive whenever anyone tries to clip his nails or give him a bath. I have to muzzle him and have one person hold him while another person clips. Baths are pretty much a lost cause unless there is someone strong enough to lift him into the tub. Can you tell me why he has started doing this and what I should do to get him to stop?” Read on for Kari’s answer.

Please e-mail me with your questions. kari@wagandtrain.com
