Reactive Rover:
It's an intensive 4-week long, 90-minutes each session workshop for dog owners who need more practice around other dogs, but don't want to risk the dog park. Ideally, the dogs should be at the point where they can see another dog on the other side of the street and not freak out (still whining and maybe a bark, but not a full-blown tantrum).
**The dogs can be fine off-leash and only exhibit leash reactivity or aggression, or those who have problems at the dog park and need to refine their dog language skills.
Owners will be educated on dog language and what to look for when introducing dogs, plus what to do when they do react. It's an excellent way to reduce owner anxiety so the dog can relax, too. We will also brush up on basic obedience skills, especially self-control, stays, and ‘watch me’ with distractions.
Dogs will have the opportunity to practice and learn dog language with similar temperament dogs, both on-and off-leash and through fences at first. Dogs will be required to wear a basket muzzle for safety, and will need to get used to it at home first. Dogs will be allowed to see, be in close proximity to, interact, sniff, even play with other dogs by the end of the 4-week session.
The fee for this class is $150.00
