I
adopted Tova from the Mile High Humane Society in July 2003, and was
told that she did not 'play well with others'. She captured my heart
and
I took her home, but quickly discovered that she REALLY didn't like
other dogs. I was recommended to Kari and am so thankful for the
opportunity to work with such a knowledgable person. Since Tova was 4
years old, I thought it was hopeless to ever socialize her with other
dogs.
Nonetheless, I went to class (for 6 months) and I began to be
discouraged because Tova's aggression was getting better very slowly.
Kari taught me that Tova had fear aggression and the thing that was
best for her was socialization and after all the classes and one Yappy
Hour spent outside the fence.... BREAKTHROUGH!! We were able to take
her off leash at the next Yappy Hour and she ran around with about 30
other dogs without having an aggressive incident! Now Tova and I go to
the dogpark almost daily, and she also goes to daycare at least once
a
week- Tove finally has some friends! Both Tova and I are most grateful
to
Kari for bringing Tova out of her shell! Owner: Rebecca Jacobs
Update (by Kari) ***
Tova also appeared on 9News with me during an early
morning segment about dog aggression. She behaved wonderfully and smiled
perfectly for the cameras, while I answered questions on what to do with
problem dogs. She was a star, and helped me greatly to get the 'word'
out
that dog aggression is most often 'retrainable' and not the end of the
world. Thank you to both Tova and Rebecca for all of your hard work!
You
have truly shown what love, dedication, and consistency can do for a
dog.
I know Tova will make many more doggie friends in the future.
