Client Agreement

If you’re considering getting a service dog prospect, Wag & Train is here to help guide you through the selection process. We’ll work closely with you to understand what traits will best suit your needs and provide advice on choosing a puppy from a breeder or another source. While we’ll assist with temperament and odor testing at 7 weeks old via Zoom (with the breeder’s help), the final decision on which puppy to choose is yours. Please note, though, that Wag & Train can’t guarantee the puppy’s future health or behavior, and we can’t be held responsible if things don’t go as planned.

Wag & Train is excited to offer private lessons for you and your dog, which we’ll conduct via Zoom. We’re committed to helping you reach your training goals, but we can’t promise that your dog will definitely graduate from the program. It’s important that you and everyone in your household practice with your dog daily (or as recommended), and follow the instructions exactly as outlined. We ask that you use only positive reinforcement tools—no aversive techniques allowed. If a shock collar is used, unfortunately, it will mean dismissal from the program. Also, It’s important to ensure that your dog only performs the tasks they’ve been trained to do for your disability, and we don’t recommend using your personal service dog to assist anyone else

Sharing videos online or on social media while you are in the training part of the program shall be limited. Videos should only be for educational purposes and shouldn’t reveal our proprietary training methods or be instructional about training tasks or skills. Also, these videos shouldn’t be for profit.

Wag & Train is here to help you and your dog maintain the skills you’ve learned for six months after graduation. If any issues come up, please let us know as soon as possible. Depending on what’s needed, there may be a charge at our current hourly rate for consulting services. If you notice your dog is starting to lose accuracy or consistency with their skills, be sure to reach out within 14 days. We’ll make every effort to help, but we can’t guarantee the outcome. The length and extent of our assistance will be at our discretion.

After graduating from the Wag & Train program, you agree to keep up with all the maintenance training recommended by Wag & Train throughout your dog’s working life. This includes the foundation skills of scent detection and public access. If the recommended training isn’t followed, Wag & Train won’t be responsible for helping maintain your dog’s skills.

The fees for Wag & Train’s program are as follows:

1 lesson = $125

Once a week = $300/Month

Twice a week = $500/Month

Class fees will be invoiced monthly, on the last day of the month for the upcoming month. Fees are due by the 3rd of every month. If payment is not made, classes will be halted until the invoice is paid. If payment is not made within 2 weeks, client forfeits her/his place in the program.

Client agrees to cancel at least 24 hours before scheduled lesson, or forfeit the lesson. If Client is sick and unable to attend a lesson because of illness related to Celiac Disease, you will get 1 make-up lesson every 2 months at no charge.

If Client wishes to discontinue the program, h/she must give at least 1 month notice.  The full monthly fee will be charged for the upcoming lessons until the classes end. Fees already paid to Wag & Train will not be refunded.

Wag & Train may decide to end our duties if any of the following occur:

  • We determine that your dog is dangerous or aggressive toward any person or animal.

  • We believe your dog is unlikely to reliably perform service dog tasks due to behavioral, physical, or health issues.

  • You fail to make timely payments.

  • You breach any term or condition of this agreement.

If we do end our duties for any of these reasons, all other parts of this agreement will still remain in effect. Additionally, if you neglect veterinary checks, routine care, or treat your dog in a negligent or abusive manner, the contract will be terminated without a refund of lesson fees.

I give Wag & Train permission to share photos or images of me and/or my dog. I also allow them to use videos of us during temperament evaluations, public access tests, scent detection tests, or training lessons.

I understand that any photos or videos I share with Wag & Train or post in their social media groups as part of the training program will become the property of Wag & Train. I agree that these photos and videos can be used in future publications or products without any compensation to me.

Wag & Train will ask for my permission before using any photos or videos of me and my dog in their media. I can always say no if I’m not comfortable with it, and Wag & Train will respect that decision. When they do use my photos or videos, they’ll make sure to give proper credit whenever possible.

You agree to release, hold harmless, and indemnify Wag & Train, along with our employees, directors, volunteers, and anyone else associated with us, from any claims or liability for injury, death, property loss, or any other damage related to public demonstrations with your dog. This applies whether the demonstration happens during or after your participation in the program, and it covers the entire life of your dog.
